YEREVAN, 24 December. /ARKA/. Yerevan Council of Elders (legislative assembly) at Tuesday's meeting approved a new procedure for calculation of waste disposal fees for households.

The new [procedure will come into force from 2025. It foresees an increase in rates from 7 to 15% (depending on the number of rooms).

Now the fee is calculated by the number of citizens permanently or temporarily residing in the flat (private house). Fom the new year the calculation will be based on the size of the flat (house).

David Hakobyan, acting head of the Department of Accounting and Revenue Collection of the Municipality, stated that the average rate of 13 drams per 1 square metre is taken as a basis for the collection of household waste in residential buildings.

‘There are a total of 251,635 flats in Yerevan, of which 52,641 are one-room flats, 85,073 are two-room flats, 91,829 are three-room flats and 22,092 are four-room flats,’ Hakobyan said.

According to the procedure, residents of one-room flats will pay, on average, 455 drams instead of current 400 drams (13.75% increase), two-room flats - 689 drams instead of 600 drams (14.8% increase), three-room flats - 975 drams instead of 900 drams (8.3% increase), four-room flats - 1287 drams instead of 1200 drams. (7.25% increase).

As for private residential houses, the increase in payments will be 180 drams on average.

Hakobyan pointed out that this payment scheme is already in force for economic entities. ($1 - 395.75 drams).
