The water level in Armenia's largest Lake Sevan has dropped by 10 centimeters compared to February 1 last year, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center reported.

YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. The water level in Armenia's largest Lake Sevan has dropped by 10 centimeters compared to February 1 last year, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center reported.

It said on February 1, 2024, the water level in the lakewas at 1,915 meters. For comparison, in 2023 (February 1) it was at the level of 1,925 meters.

In January 2024, some 6 million 425 thousand cubic meters of water entered Lake Sevan through the Arpa-Sevan tunnel aqueduct.

Lake Sevan, the main source of drinking water in the region and one of the largest high mountain lakes in Europe and Asia, is located in the heart of the Armenian Highlands, at 1,914 meters above sea level.

The lake stretches more than 70 kilometers in length, from northwest to southeast, and the area of its water mirror reaches almost 1.5 thousand square kilometers.

Only one river, the Hrazdan (a tributary of the Araks), flows out of the lake, while 28 rivers flow into it. -0-
