Water Patrol Service is officially deployed on Lake Sevan

YEREVAN, December 11. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan travelled on Saturday to the Lake Sevan to see the deployment of Water Patrol Service on the country’s  largest lake.

Pashinyan noted that the Water Patrol Service will be responsible for law enforcement activities on Lake Sevan and in the coastal areas. He thanked the partners of the project -the governments of the Russian Federation, the United States and the European Union.

The Water Patrol Service in cooperation with other departments and divisions of the Police will be engaged in ensuring public safety, as well as participate in solving crimes.  The staff was retrained by instructors from the USA as part of ICITAP program of the US Department of Justice.

The boats were provided by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The government of Armenia will provide more funds for acquisition of water scooters, radio communication equipment,off-road vehicles, as well as construction and equipping of the modular buildings.-0-
