Wealthy Armenian businessman accused of conspiracy in bribery

A wealthy Armenian businessman, Samvel Mayrapetyan, reportedly having close business connections with ex-president Robert Kocharyan, arrested by the Special Investigative Service on October 7, was formally accused today of complicity in bribery, Marina Ohanjanyan, spokeswoman for the Special Investigation Service, said.
YEREVAN, October 9. /ARKA/. A wealthy Armenian businessman, Samvel Mayrapetyan, reportedly having close business connections with ex-president Robert Kocharyan, arrested by the Special Investigative Service on October 7, was formally accused today of complicity in bribery, Marina Ohanjanyan, spokeswoman for the Special Investigation Service, said.
"Mayrapetyan is charged under Article 38-311 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (complicity in bribery)," said Ohanjanyan, adding that more detailed information will be provided later.
A local court is currently deciding what kind of preventive measure apply on Mayrapetyan. Mayrapetyan owns the Armenian H2 TV channel and the Toyota Yerevan dealership.
Ex-president Kocharyan is currently under investigation over his role in the deadly breakup of post-election demonstrations in Yerevan in 2017 March in which 10 people were killed and more than 200 injured. -0-
