YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. The air temperature at night all over the country will rise by 8-10 degrees from November 30 to December 1, the deputy head of Armenia’s Meteorological Service Gagik Surenyan said Saturday.
However, no obvious daytime temperature changes are expected, he added. On November 30 cloudy weather is expected and precipitation is forecast for December 1. The daytime temperature in the Ararat Valley and Yerevan will be in the range of 3-5 degrees Celsius, he said.
According to Surenyan, the night air temperature on December 1 will rise in Yerevan and the Ararat valley to 0-2 degrees Celsius from the current 8-10 degrees below zero.
"On November 30, the ‘Cyprus cyclone" will penetrate from the Mediterranean Sea to bring more clouds and very intensive warm air," - said Surenyan.
He said heavy snowfalls, snowstorms, low visibility and ice are expected in Shirak, Kotayk, Gegharkunik provinces as well as in the mountainous region of Aragatsotn and Vayots Dzor. In the foothills of Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor and Ararat Valley they will mainly be in the form of sleet and rain, caused by increasing temperature.
Surenyan also noted that until November 30 inclusive, Armenia will be under the influence of cold air masses, except Lori, Tavush, Syunik and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), where arctic air masses will yield to relatively warm tropical air masses penetrating from Iran.
He noted that now there is cold air congestion in the Ararat Valley, where the daytime temperature is actually the same as in Gyumri, Gavar and Martuni.-0-
