Yerevan City Hall: Air Quality in November: "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups"

YEREVAN, December 8. /ARKA/. The Yerevan City Hall announced that the air quality in the city during November fell within the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category. Data from 184 monitoring stations set up at construction sites indicated that the average PM2.5 air quality index was 142, while PM10 measured 64. These figures are categorized as "moderate" or "unhealthy for sensitive groups."

The city administration noted that for the same timeframe in 2024, PM2.5 levels were recorded at 101, and PM10 at 53.

Between November 20 and 30, 2025, the average air quality index (AQI) for PM2.5 soared to 180, marking a significant decline.

Additionally, it was reported that an analysis of data received from the monitoring stations at the end of last week indicates a relative decrease in these values.

Previously, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan mentioned that the city's air pollution issues typically persist from mid-November to mid-March. He attributes the primary causes to Armenia's geographical positioning and climatic conditions (air inversion, which facilitates the accumulation of pollutants in the area for extended periods).-0-
