Yerevan mayor reimburses 7.65 million AMD for Los Angeles flight

YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan reimbursed the cost of his air ticket to the United States for his recent business trip, press secretary Hayk Kostanyan reported.

"The amount of 7.65 million drams was paid by the mayor from his personal funds, fully reimbursing the expense from the community budget," Kostanyan wrote on Facebook.

Additionally, the press secretary noted that the mayor has instructed a thorough review of the procurement process to identify who is responsible for such expenses. Further information will be provided regarding the results of this investigation.

Earlier, during a live debate, former Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan accused Avinyan of excessive spending on his business trip to the United States in November 2024.

The news that Avinyan's plane ticket to Los Angeles cost the city budget approximately 7.6 million drams (around $20,000) sparked strong public outcry. Later, Avinyan assured that he would reimburse the amount from his personal funds and instructed an investigation into the reasons for such irresponsibility on the part of city hall employees.
