YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. It will take another week to extinguish the fire that broke out at Nubarashen landfill, Yerevan Mayor's advisor Kamo Areyan said today.

The fire at the landfill located on the outskirts of the Armenian capital Yerevan has been burning since May 18 polluting the air for kilometers and sickening people in nearby neighborhoods.

According to Areyan, the entire staff of the Garbage Cleaning and Sanitary Purification company has been mobilized and private companies' equipment has been involved.

He said if the situation is assessed realistically, it will take another week to extinguish the fire completely and eliminate the smoke.

Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan added that a project designed to build a new modern landfill for the capital is already in the process of implementation. He suggested that municipality officials visit the place of emergency in the afternoon and get acquainted with the situation on the spot. --0--
