The Yerevan Municipality said today it was ready to face a new wave of snowfalls expected in the capital city. According to the latest weather forecasts, snow and snowstorms are expected on January 8-9 in most of the regions of the country and in Yerevan.

"The municipality is taking all the necessary measures to clean the streets and sidewalks of snow,' it said.
Armenia has not had such a long and intensive snowfall for years. According to meteorologists, the amount of precipitation in the form of snow that fell from December 31 to January 2, exceeded 45 centimeters, much higher than the monthly average. Heavy snowfall paralyzed traffic on most of the roads across the country. -0-
