The Yerevan Municipality said today it began removing billboards from historical and cultural buildings.
YEREVAN, July 12, /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality said today it began removing billboards from historical and cultural buildings.
Garik Khachatryan, head of a municipality department overseeing exterior design and advertising in the capital city, said the removing of the billboards was prompted by complaints of condominiums, which cite regulations banning placement of billboards on buildings which have historical, architectural or cultural value.
Khachatryan said the move had been preceded by talks with advertising companies, which expressed their readiness to dismantle the billboards at their own expense.
He said the municipality continues taking stock of ad billboards in all administrative districts. According to preliminary estimates, there are more than 100 such billboards in the capital. -0-
