Yerevan municipality to acquire more garbage trucks

The Yerevan Municipality will acquire another 24 garbage trucks until July, Vice-Mayor Hayk Sargsyan said at a press conference on Monday.
YEREVAN, May 13. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality will acquire another 24 garbage trucks until July, Vice-Mayor Hayk Sargsyan said at a press conference on Monday. He said the first batch of Russia-manufactured Kamaz garbage trucks was delivered to Armenia on May 7.
He said the contract for delivery of another batch of trucks will be signed at the end of May and regardless of the contract with Sanitek waste management company , the municipality intends to seriously address the problem of garbage collection and is going to rent several vehicles.
Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the operation Sanitek company, stressing that Yerevan will no longer tolerate work of this quality.
It late April Sanitek was fined again in the amount of 13 million drams ($26,817) for negligence and non-performance of its contractual obligations.
Sanitek Armenia is the branch of Sanitek International Group – a multinational company headquartered in Lebanon. It started its operations in Yerevan in December 2014 after winning an international competition announced by the Yerevan Municipality.
Numerous users of social networks and the media complain about the heaps of garbage throughout Yerevan, which are not cleaned in a timely manner by Sanitek. -0-
