Yerevan State University professor confesses bribe-taking

Armenia's National Security Service has found a bribery case in the Yerevan State University, the press office of the service reported on Friday. According to the report, the evidence obtained gives grounds for saying that a professor at the Yerevan State University, using his contacts with particular persons, has taken bribes from citizens over a period between 2017 and 2019 which ranged between USD 1,000 to USD 8,000 for various illegal activities.
YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. Armenia's National Security Service has found a bribery case in the Yerevan State University, the press office of the service reported on Friday. According to the report, the evidence obtained gives grounds for saying that a professor at the Yerevan State University, using his contacts with particular persons, has taken bribes from citizens over a period between 2017 and 2019 which ranged between USD 1,000 to USD 8,000 for various illegal activities.
In particular, the professor took bribes for organizing enrollment in universities with a clear breach of the necessary procedures, ensuring high points at interim exams, providing master degree etc. He has committed these offences in complicity with other officials and sometimes through mediators.
On January 31, 2020 he was caught red-handed, while receiving $1,000 for ensuring necessary points at one of interim exams to a students of the Yerevan State University's law department. The professor confessed the fact of bribe-taking.
The National Security Service's investigative department opened a criminal case and an investigation is launched to reveal all the persons involved in the crime. -0---
