Armenian government raises monetary rewards paid to Olympic champions
YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today a decision to raise the amount of monetary rewards, scholarships and lifetime payments paid to the champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, their personal coaches, national team coaches and doctors.
Education, Science, Culture and Sports Minister Vahram Dumanyan specified that the amounts are to be paid once at the end of the year.
Until now the winners of the Olympic Games received one-time 20 million drams. Now, they will receive 25 million drams. If an athlete receives a gold medal, the head coach of the national team and the athlete's personal trainer will henceforth receive 12.5 million drams instead of the previous 10 million drams. The second coach of the national team and the team doctor will receive 5 million drams instead of the previous 4 million drams.
Silver medalists of the Olympics will receive 20 million drams instead of 15 million drams, coaches will receive 10 million drams (instead of 7.5 million drams), a second coach and a doctor - 4 million drams (instead of 3 million drams).
Bronze winners will receive 15 million drams (instead of 10 million drams), coaches - 7.5 million drams (instead of 5 million drams), the second coach and doctor - 3 million drams (instead of 2 million drams).
The government has also raised the amount of personal scholarships paid to champions and expanded the circle of beneficiaries, as well as has raised the monthly lifetime remuneration to champions and prize-winners of the Olympics.
Previously, a champion of the Olympic Games received a personal scholarship of 500 thousand drams, but now he will receive 1 million drams. The athlete's personal coach and physician have been added to the beneficiaries.
Silver medalists used to receive 350 thousand drams, now they will receive 700 thousand drams, and bronze medalists will receive 600 thousand drams instead of the previous 300 thousand drams.
Olympic champions who receive a lifetime monthly remuneration will receive 300 thousand drams instead of 200 thousand drams, silver medalists will receive 200 thousand drams instead of 140 thousand drams, bronze medalists - 150 thousand drams instead of 100 thousand drams. ($1 - 487 drams). -0-
