Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian will take part in the FIDE Chess.com Online Nations Cup tournament as part of the European team, FIDE Director General Emil Sutovsky wrote in a Facebook post.
YEREVAN, April 23. /ARKA/. Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian will take part in the FIDE Chess.com Online Nations Cup tournament as part of the European team, FIDE Director General Emil Sutovsky wrote in a Facebook post.
According to Sutovsky, the captain of the European team is the 13th world champion Garry Kasparov. In addition to Aronian, this team also includes Maxim Vache-Lagrave (France), Anish Giri (Netherlands) and Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine). Reserve players are Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland) and Nana Dzagnidze (Georgia).
The online Nations Cup team tournament is organized by FIDE and the leading chess portal Chess.com and will be held from May 5 to 10, 2020. The total prize fund is $180 thousand.
Six teams will take part in the tournament: Russia, USA, Europe, China, India and the team that will represent the Rest of the World. Moreover, according to the rules of the tournament, teams must have at least one female player for every game. - 0--
