YEREVAN, August 15. /ARКА/. Armenian Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vardan Kostanyan received a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Oil of Iran Ahmad Zeraatkar.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Kostanyan noted the importance of deepening economic ties between the two countries, as evidenced by the involvement of Iranian companies in infrastructure projects in Armenia.

Zeraatkar, for his part, noted that close cooperation between Armenia and Iran in various fields has recorded success.

During the meeting, issues related to the construction of an Iran-Armenia 400 kV overhead power line and a substation and gas for electricity swap scheme, as well as planning for further cooperation were discussed. The parties agreed to continue the discussions.

On August 14, the Armenian government decided to complete the construction of the Iran-Armenia 400 kV overhead power transmission line and the substation as soon as possible.

In August 2023, Armenia and Iran extended thegas for electricity" agreement until 2030, which provides for an increase in gas imports and electricity exports.

Since May 15, 2009, Armenia has been receiving gas from Iran through the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline. The gas is converted into electricity and shipped to Iran at the rate of 3 kWh per 1 cubic meter of natural gas.-0-
