Armenia currently choosing partner country for construction of new modular nuclear power plant, says PM

YEREVAN, October 1. /ARКА/. Armenia has made a strategic decision to build a new modular nuclear power plant, and all proposals are currently being reviewed, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Partnership should not be confused with marriage, and vice versa. We have warned all partners that we will discuss this issue with everyone. Discussions are currently underway with the United States, Russia, China, France, and South Korea. We do not see a political component; the choice will be made based on economic considerations," Pashinyan said during a government Q&A session in parliament.
According to him, Armenian experts should visit these countries and make a decision, but an agreement regarding the new nuclear power plant must be concluded within one to two years.
"The decision will not have geopolitical or foreign policy implications, because we need a modular nuclear reactor at the best price and with the best technology in the shortest possible time," Pashinyan said.
