''Energy Efficient Regions'' program implemented in Armenia with $1.7 million EFSD grant
YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Electricity saving in public buildings participating in Armenia's ‘’Energy Efficient Regions’’ program have reached 40%. This was reported by Karen Asatryan, Director of the Armenian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, during an expert meeting.
Since 2022, the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund has been implementing the ‘’Energy Efficient Regions’’ program with a $1.7 million grant from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD). As part of the program, a preliminary energy audit of over 150 public buildings was conducted, resulting in the selection of 13 buildings where energy efficiency measures are being implemented.
In particular, a 150 kW solar photovoltaic station was installed at the CANDLE Synchrotron Research Institute, along with energy efficiency measures such as thermal insulation of floors and ceilings and the replacement of windows. A 100 kW solar installation was also installed at the Yerevan Figure Skating and Hockey School, which also serves as a parking lot. Thermal insulation work was carried out at the Alaverdi Medical Center.
The participants of the expert meeting agreed on the need to share the accumulated positive experience.
A two-day event was planned in Yerevan and Gyumri to summarize the project's results. The first part, on November 19, was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund of Armenia, the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, the EFSD, as well as representatives and managers from UNDP and experts in energy-saving technologies from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
On November 20, the participants visited Gyumri, where they observed the work being carried out at several institutions: the Gyumri branch of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, the Enrico Matte Polyclinic, and the Saint Grigor Narekatsi Polyclinic.
