First floating solar photovoltaic plant installed on Yerevan Lake
YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. The first floating solar photovoltaic plant with 151 kW capacity, has been installed on Yerevan Lake.
The launch ceremony was attended today by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan, Vice Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan and French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies.
The plant was built by the French company NEPSEN. The project was initiated by the Armenian Renewable Energy Foundation with the financial support of the French government.
"Although the capacity of the floating solar power plant is small, but such plants help to expand the prospects of renewable energy development in Armenia. We are confident that similar projects will have a positive impact and contribute to the development of the industry and strengthening of Armenia's energy security," Sanosyan said.
He emphasized that the Armenian government pays great attention to the development of alternative energy in Armenia.
