New elevators in Yerevan will be installed on time, Deputy Mayor for Financial Affairs Sergey Nersisyan said on Friday.
YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. New elevators in Yerevan will be installed on time, Deputy Mayor for Financial Affairs Sergey Nersisyan said on Friday.
The Yerevan Municipality plans to install 500 new elevators in the high-rise buildings of the capital to replace the old ones. The tender for the purchase of 500 elevators worth 5 billion drams was completed in the summer of 2020, after which the process of their installation began. The project is fully implemented under co-financing and government subsidies.
"We have already installed 158 new elevators, another 318 will be commissioned by November 15," Nersisyan said.
He noted that despite the pandemic and martial law, the contractor fulfills all obligations within the prescribed time frame, due to which it is planned to install all 500 elevators by the end of the year.
In general, according to the city administration, in the capital, about 3500 elevators are subject to replacement.
In 2019, elevators were replaced in 20 high-rise buildings in ten administrative districts of Yerevan. The technical characteristics of the elevators include the principle of inclusiveness - the elevators are equipped with special clamps for visually impaired persons, an audible warning system, and convenient devices for use by people in wheelchairs.
According to the mayor's office, more than 4.4 thousand elevators operate in Yerevan today, most of which were installed in 1956-1993 and need to be replaced, since their service life is 25 years ($1 - 493.87 drams). –0--
