Pashinyan calls joint project with Firebird, Team Telecom and NVIDIA "an extremely significant investment"
YEREVAN, November 20. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced today that the extensive AI Data Center initiative, being executed in Armenia in collaboration with Firebird and the U.S.-based NVIDIA, represents a highly significant investment program.
He made this statement in response to the U.S. government's decision to grant Firebird (a startup specializing in cloud and AI infrastructure technologies) a license to import NVIDIA GPUs into Armenia.
"In relation to the license for exporting NVIDIA chips, I wish to extend my gratitude to President Donald Trump. This initiative is being carried out in accordance with the memorandums of understanding signed in Washington on August 8," Pashinyan remarked during a press briefing on Thursday.
He further mentioned that he had recently had the chance to discuss this matter with President Trump, as investors had expressed certain concerns regarding the project.
"I am both pleased and thankful that the White House responded appropriately, and as a result, the investment program has commenced its implementation at a rapid pace. I congratulate Firebird and the technology sector as a whole, as well as all of us, because I believe this is an exceptionally important investment program," the Prime Minister stated.
About the data center project
It was previously reported that the Armenian government, NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group will collaborate to establish the region's most powerful supercomputer and data center utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
The $500 million investment in the AI data center project in Armenia will serve as a platform for innovation, education, science, and entrepreneurship, fostering the growth of local and international startups, bridging the divide between science and technology, and transforming Armenia into a regional tech hub—a concrete destination for AI development. This will fundamentally alter the technological landscape of the region.
The equipment will be purchased from NVIDIA, the world's leading manufacturer of such equipment, and the data center will be owned by the newly formed company Firebird. Other participants include Dell. The project, scheduled to launch in 2026, will deploy thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and create infrastructure with a capacity of over 100 MW.-0-
