Tumo branch to open at University of Luxembourg

YEREVAN, January 26. /ARKA/. A branch of the Armenian TUMO Center for Creative Technologies will open at the University of Luxembourg, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. It said the agreement was reached during Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan’s official visit to Luxembourg.
Mirzoyan was hosted by the university the day before and was welcomed by the rector of the university, Stephane Palage, the ministry said.
Mirzoyan was quoted as saying that that the opening of the TUMO Center in Luxembourg will be an important event in the framework of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Luxembourg.
At the university, Mirzoyan got told about its research and educational programs and met with its leadership and faculty.
The Armenian minister described the cooperation between the two countries in the areas of science and education as an important direction of the bilateral agenda, which is enshrined in the agreement on cooperation in the areas of culture, education, youth and science.
He noted that dozens of Armenian students have been educated at the University of Luxembourg, and the number of Armenian citizens seeking to study at that institution is constantly increasing.
"I hope that as a result of ongoing negotiations between the Yerevan State University and the University of Luxembourg a document on cooperation will be signed, which will provide a legal basis for the exchange of students and the implementation of joint research programs," said the Armenian Foreign Minister.
TUMO Center for Creative Technologies (TUMO) was opened in Armenia in 2011. It offers teenagers free modern technologies courses. In 2016, TUMO was ranked number one innovative school in the world by the French magazine "We demain."
TUMO is headquartered in Yerevan, with foreign branches operating in Moscow, Paris, Beirut, Berlin, Tirana and Kiev. -0-
