Armenia and Iran discuss expanding cooperation in tourism
YEREVAN, December 18. /ARKA/. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan discussed prospects for cooperation in the tourism sector with a delegation led by Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Seyed Reza Salehi-Amiri on Wednesday, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy reported.
During the meeting, the deepening of current relations between the two countries was discussed, including prospects for cooperation in the tourism sector, increasing awareness of the current potential in this area in both countries, boosting tourist flows, and developing medical tourism.
Papoyan with his counterpart also discussed the upcoming meeting of the technical commission on tourism cooperation between the two countries and the possibility of organizing a familiarization visit for Iranian media representatives to Armenia in 2025.
Iran is among the top three countries in terms of tourist visits to Armenia: according to the Tourism Committee, of the 152,976 tourists who visited the country in November, 43% came from Russia, 12% from Georgia, and 8% from Iran.
