YEREVAN, November 22. /ARKA/. The decline in the total number of tourists arriving in Armenia during the first nine months of this year is primarily attributed to a decrease in visitors from Russia, who represent the largest share. This is stated in the Armenian Ministry of Economy's report, "Armenia: Economic Prospects, January-September 2024’’.

According to the National Statistical Committee, the number of foreign tourists visiting Armenia from January to September 2024 totaled 1,721,245, compared to 1,835,297 in the same period of 2023, marking a 6.2% decrease.

"From January to September 2024, tourists from Russia accounted for 43.0% of the total number of entries. In the same period of 2023, they made up 50.6% of all entries," the Ministry of Economy's study notes.

According to official statistics, the largest number of tourists arrived in Armenia from Russia (740,890 people, or 43% of the total, a 20.1% decline compared to January-September of last year), Georgia (199,145 people, or 11.6%, a 7.1% increase), and Iran (136,496 people, or 7.9%, a 17.8% increase).

At the same time, the number of tourists from China increased by 69.8% over the 9 months (24,444 people), from India by 53.6% (33,233 people), and from the Philippines by 40.4% (16,695 people). -0-
