Armenia and UAE to eliminate entry visa requirement

The Armenian government on Thursday approved an agreement with the United Arab Emirates that will eliminate entry visa requirements for citizens of both countries.
YEREVAN, January 19. /ARKA/. The Armenian government on Thursday approved an agreement with the United Arab Emirates that will eliminate entry visa requirements for citizens of both countries. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, after the adoption of the agreement, citizens of both countries will be able to make mutual visits without obtaining visas.
"The main purpose of the agreement is to help boost tourism and business contacts with the UAE," said Kocharyan.
At its previous meeting, the government approved a decision on the establishment of Consulate General in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) ‘because of annual progress in Armenia’s relations with the Gulf countries.’
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE and in particular Dubai, is home to about 3000 Armenian citizens. The Consulate General is expected to help also boost trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries.-0-
