Armenia’s position in Passport Index 2021 not changed

YEREVAN, October 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s position in the updated Passport Index 2021, published by Henley & Partners, has not changed.

The Henley Passport Index is a ranking of all the world's passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a visa. Armenia has retained its 84th place among about 200 countries.
Therefore, the holders of Armenian passports have access to 64 countries without visa. Comparatively, Russia is 52nd, Georgia is 55th, Turkey is 57th and Azerbaijan is 80th.

The average global mobility score across all 199 states measured by the index is 89, based on a total of visa-free or visa-on-arrival access provided.

The UAE passport has become the most powerful in the world yet again allowing entry to 152 countries. As many as 98 countries offer visa-free entry, 54 countries offer visas on arrival and 46 countries require a visa before entering the country.

The ranking is based on freedom of movement and visa-free travel to passport holders. The strength of the passport does not only represent the identity of the citizen, but also an important factor affecting its access to global opportunities, ease of movement and quality of life.

The rankings have been changed after visa-free arrangements became null and void between the countries following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to contain the pandemic, many countries have imposed travel restrictions on other countries where daily Covid-19 cases are high.

New Zealand’s passport is the second strongest after the UAE, offering entry to 146 countries. Passport holders of Germany, Finland, Austria, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, South Korea and Australia can enter 144 countries.

Globally, Afghanistan’s passport is the weakest, followed by Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Myanmar, Palestinian Territories, Eritrea and Iran.

Henley & Partners, a London-based global citizenship and residency advisory firm, produces the rankings based on data from the International Air Transport Association. The association maintains a global database of travel information. -0-
