Armenia ups 2 notches in Henley Passport Index

YEREVAN, January 10. /ARKA/. Armenia has risen to the 79th place in the updated World Passport Index for the 1st quarter of 2023, Henley & Partners said.

In the previous index Armenia was 81st. Citizens of Armenia can still travel without a visa to 65 countries around the world.

According to Henley & Partners, Armenia did not conclude any visa-free travel agreements during the reporting period.

For the fifth year running, Japan crowns the index, which is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and ranks all the world's 199 passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.

Japanese citizens can now visit 193 destinations out of 227 visa-free, while those of South Korea and Singapore, which are tied in 2nd place, enjoy a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of 192.

Afghanistan remains firmly at the bottom of the Index, with a score of just 27 — 166 fewer visa-free destinations than Japan — the widest global mobility gap in the index's 18-year history.-0-
