Tourist arrivals in Armenia may reach 2 million by end of 2024
YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. By the end of 2024, the number of tourists visiting Armenia could reach 2 million, according to Lusine Gevorgyan, head of the Armenian Tourism Committee.
"As of the end of October 2024, 1.95 million tourists had visited Armenia. I think this number will reach 2 million in November-December. To avoid sounding overly ambitious, we would really like to improve this figure by 20%," Gevorgyan said in an interview with ARKA news agency.
According to her, the focus will be on aggressive non-Armenian, foreign marketing to increase the visibility and accessibility of Armenia, particularly on routes where direct flights are already available.
"If I'm not mistaken, there are three flights a day between Armenia and the UAE. We expect that citizens of this country will also arrive in Armenia on these flights," Gevorgyan noted.
According to the latest official data, over 1.92 million tourists visited Armenia in the first 10 months of 2024, a 5.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. The majority of tourists came from Russia (43%), Georgia (11%), Iran (7%), as well as the United States (3%) and India (2%).
