YEREVAN, May 21./ARKA/. Andrey Ponomarev is appointed the director of ArmenTel’s fixed network bloc, the company reported to ARKA on Tuesday. 

 “This position is new and was opened to meet the company’s strategy. Thus, the fixed network is now separated into the bloc to develop infrastructure and introduce new commercial proposals at the market,” the source stated. 
Andrey Ponomarev has been working in the telecommunications sphere for over 15 years. During this period he has implemented several major successful commercial and technical projects linked to the fixed and mobile networks. 

“This appointment is very important for me, it gives me an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of the fixed business of ArmenTel. I believe, the team of the fixed bloc will succeed in offering very demanded products and the leading technological solutions to the Armenian telecommunications market,” Ponomarev noted.
 “The company believes the fixed network will continue advancing under the supervision of Andrey Ponomarev,” the company clarified. 

Andrey Ponomarev graduated from Alma-Ata Institute of Communication Engineering, and later from Ural State University of Railway Transport. His career in telecommunications he started at Ural Mobile Networks CJSC. From 2003 to 2009 he headed the affiliates of Golden Telecom and VimpelCom  in the Ural region, and chaired the board of directors of Telecommunications Agency in Perm. 

From 2009 to 2012 Ponomarev hold a position of the general director of Foratec Communications (Yekaterunburg). The company later merged into Vimpelcom and integrated with Yekaterinburg affiliate of VimpelCom. Ponomarev was responsible for the integration process, and since 2010 he has headed Yekaterinburg affiliate and has successfully managed both companies.—0-
