Armenia and Iraq stress the importance of establishing direct air link

Armenia’s territorial administration and emergency minister Armen Yeritsyan and the Iraqi president Fuad Masum discussed on January 26 in Baghdad the establishment of direct air and ground links between the two countries, the Armenian foreign ministry reported

Yeritsyan was quoted as saying that the peoples of Armenia and Iraq have much in common; they have lived for centuries side by side, and the Armenian authorities have committed to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and contribute to the development and deepening of bilateral cooperation. The need for increased contacts between businessmen of the two countries was also underscored.
Masum, in turn, stressed the role of the Armenian community in Iraq and its contribution to the development of the country. He said the concerns of the Armenian community are in the spotlight of the authorities.
Yeritsyan is in Baghdad to attend a two-day regular session of the Armenian-Iraqi intergovernmental commission. -0-
