Armenia bans import of poultry and related products from Turkey

Armenia’s State Food Safety Service has banned the imports of poultry products from Turkey, it has emerged today.

YEREVAN, May 7. / ARKA /.Armenia’s State Food Safety Service has banned the imports of poultry products from Turkey, it has emerged today.
Under an order signed by the chief of the service Armen Hayrapetyan, the ban is effective from 7 May until it is cancelled officially. The ban applies to imports of live poultry, poultry products, feathers, hatching eggs, meat and feed (except for feed containing synthetic and chemical substances), as well as to plastic and cardboard boxes and pads.
The ban is imposed in order to prevent the penetration of Avian influenza (type H5N1) reported in Turkey into Armenia.
The State Food Safety Service said all other foods imported from Turkey are subject to mandatory laboratory examination.-0-
