Exports of flowers from Armenia to Russia have doubled since the beginning of the year compared to the same time span in 2023, Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said.

YEREVAN, March 5. /ARKA/. Exports of flowers from Armenia to Russia have doubled since the beginning of the year compared to the same time span in 2023, Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said.

The surge is taking plalce ahead of International Women's Day marked on March 8. In Russia and some post-Soviet republics men usually buy flowers for women on that day.

Since the beginning of 2024 Rosselkhoznadzor has recorded more than 20 million pieces of flowers entering from Armenia, up from 11 million pieces recorded in the same period last year.

The number of imported tulips from Armenia increased almost 3 times, that of roses - 1.3 times, export of chrysanthemums surged by 32.5 times, while daffodils were shipped for the first time. The shipment of alstromeria decreased 1.6 times and that of gerberas - 2.3 times.-0-
