Mihran Poghosyan, the chief of Armenia’s Compulsory Enforcement Service, a government agency ensuring that all court judgments are carried out, said today he has resigned.

YEREVAN, April 18. /ARCH/. Mihran Poghosyan, the chief of Armenia’s Compulsory Enforcement Service, a government agency ensuring that all court judgments are carried out, said today he has resigned.
Poghosyan said his resignation is prompted by Panama Papers which has disclosed government officials and business tycoons around the world who used a Panama law firm to hide wealth overseas.
"Media stories about the Panamanian offshore companies in Armenia and abroad mention also my name. It is regretful that my name is mentioned on a par with the family of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, who indeed pocketed billions of dollars," Poghosyan says in a statement disseminated today by the Compulsory Enforcement Service.
Poghosyan says further ‘it is unacceptable when because of the mention of his name parallels are drawn between Armenia and the dictatorial Azerbaijan.’
"So, I have resigned from my post", Poghosyan says, adding that later he will return to the Panama Papers, but as a private citizen. -0-
