Armenia's mobile and Internet operators paid a total of 10.7 billion drams in various taxes and duties in the first half of 2019.

YEREVAN, August 9. /ARKA/. Armenia's mobile and Internet operators paid a total of 10.7 billion drams in various taxes and duties in the first half of 2019. The amount of taxes they paid in the first quarter was down to 2.9 billion drams from 5.7 billion drams they had paid in the first quarter of 2018.
According to the list of the 1000 largest corporate taxpayers of Armenia, released by the State Revenue Committee, the amount of taxes paid by mobile and telecom operators in the first six months of this year slashed by 23.1% when compared to the same time span of 2018, when they had paid a total of 13.9 billion drams.
Of all taxes paid by VivaCell-MTS, Veon Armenia, Ucom and Rostelecom in Armenia, some 9.95 billion drams were collected by tax authorities and about 779 million drams by customs authorities. These companies paid 571 million drams as income taxes, 2.2 billion drams as payroll taxes, 4.2 billion drams as VAT and 3.2 billion drams as duties.
Ucom telecom and mobile operator paid 4.8 billion drams in taxes (14th place in the list of 1000 largest taxpayers)), Veon Armenia (trading as Beeline in Armenia) paid 3.1 billion drams (24th place), VivaCell-MTS paid 2.3 billion drams (37th place) and GNC Alfa (trading as Rostelecom in Armenia) paid 499 million drams (176th place).
In general, the 1000 largest taxpayers paid more than 511 billion drams in various taxes in the first half of 2019, by 14.4% or 64.4 billion drams more than in the same period of time in 2018.
Veon Armenia is part of Veon Group of Companies, which is one of the world's largest integrated telecom operators. It provides fixed and mobile communication services.
Ucom (Universal Communications) was founded in 2007. It provides the full range of services: high-speed symmetric Internet, IP-television and digital telephony.
VivaCell-MTS is owned (80% ) by Russian Mobile Telesystems. The remaining 20% is owned by the Lebanese Fattouch Group.
Russian Rostelecom’s Armenian subsidiary GNC-ALFA began promotion and sale of broadband Internet, IP-TV and a new generation of IP-telephony in Armenia under the brand of Rostelecom from 2012 December. The company’s fiber-optic network covers 80% of the territory of Armenia, extending to more about 3000 km.
