Armenia’s rank in World Bank’s Doing Business 2016 upgraded by 3 notches
YEREVAN, October 28. /ARKA/. Armenia went three notches up in the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation’s Doing Business 2016 Report to the 35th position among 189 countries.

Armenia stands between Japan (the 34th rank) and Czech Republic (36).

Doing Business annual study provides objective measures of business regulations for local firms in 189 economies and selected cities at the subnational level.

According to the report, Armenia improved only three of its ten indicators – permission for construction (by 10 notches), foreign trade (29 notches) and the degree of securing compliance with contractual obligations (by 8 notches).

It should be mentioned that Armenia improved its foreign trade indicator thanks to accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. The country’s membership in the union reduced time and expenses for paperwork and border examination.

Among former Soviet republics, only Georgia, with its 24th rank, outdid Armenia. Kazakhstan came 41st in Doing Business 2016 ranking, Belarus 44th, Russia 51st, Moldova 52nd, Azerbaijan 63rd, Kyrgyzstan 67th, Ukraine 83rd, Uzbekistan 87th and Tajikistan 132nd.

Eritrea is behind all the countries in the ranking. --0----
