YEREVAN, October 4. /ARKA/. At their session held Wednesday, Armenian lawmakers passed a package of amendments to the law on gambling, games with prizes and casinos at the first reading.
The bill proposes some restrictions in licensing games with prizes for large investors.
Karen Tamazyan, deputy finance minister, presenting the bill, said that the law states that if an economic entity make investments amounting to AMD 40 billion and more, it is eligible to receive a license for organizing games with prizes.
“The amendments imply that licenses will be provided only to those investors who invested money in one organization or unit, but not on complex indicator of investments in Armenia,” he said.
Tamazyan also stressed that only a single license will be provided, regardless of how many co-investors are involved in that.
The deputy minister said the law states that casinos in Armenia are allowed only in special zones – Meghri, Jermuk, Sevan and Tsakhkadzor.
To build a casino on another territory it is necessary to invest AMD 40 billion in it. ($1 – AMD 478.27). -0-
