YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. Armenian prime minister Karen Karapetyan told a Cabinet session today that the government agencies should ensure substitution of imported agricultural goods with domestically produced ones.
"We have repeatedly raised the issue of the need to replace imported products with quality and competitive locally-produced products, and this applies to all spheres, including agriculture," Karapetyan said.
He noted that there are at least two areas for stimulating local production - they are the production of mineral and biological fertilizers and seeds.
In this regard, he instructed the minister of agriculture to study the activities of seed stations and companies and submit proposals for their development. As for fertilizers, in the prime minister's opinion, this sphere is quite a profitable and understandable business.
‘We need to find private investors for boosting production of fertilizers in our country. It is necessary to coordinate the activities of all structures subordinate to the ministry and transfer them to the private sector, and make the ministry a "think tank." We are ready to support all initiatives for attracting partners,’ Karapetyan said.
The head of the government also instructed to carry out measures for preventing the spread of infectious diseases among livestock in farms. Given the possible risks of spreading diseases, the prime minister told the appropriate agencies to look into the possibility of creating mobile veterinary groups for vaccination of domestic animals. -0-
