Armenian company to invest $57 million in making of apple orchards in Russia

A leading Armenian transportation company –Spayka LLC- will invest 3.5 billion Russian rubles ($ 7 million.) in the making of apple orchards and construction of a storage facility in North Ossetia, a Russian republic in the Northern Caucasus, TASS reported.

YEREVAN, December 15. / ARKA /. A leading Armenian transportation company –Spayka LLC- will invest 3.5 billion Russian rubles ($ 7 million.) in the making of apple orchards and construction of a storage facility in North Ossetia, a Russian republic in the Northern Caucasus, TASS reported.
"We have gained extensive experience in greenhouse production, both in Armenia and Russia. The ultra-modern refrigeration complex with a special controlled atmosphere in the chambers will help us keep the fruit longer than usual. As a minimum, we will create 300 permanent jobs, and at harvest seasons will additionally create 700 jobs. The 3.5 billion ruble project is successful", -Spayka CEO David Ghazaryan was quoted as saying.
According to the project, the apple trees will be planted on 1,220 hectares. The storage facility will have 40 thousand sq. meters. In two years, one hectare is expected to yield 50 tons of apples.
Spayka, founded in 2001, is the largest international transportation Armenian company carrying out international cargo transportation in CIS and European countries. The company also produces packaging, including boxes and pallets made of foam polystyrene. In 2015, the company exported more than 24 thousand tons of agricultural products. -0-
