Armenia’s economic development and investments ministry is monitoring developments over Ashtarak Kat dairy company’s blocked bank accounts, Suren Karayan, economic development minister, said Wednesday at a Q&A session in the National Assembly.
YEREVAN, November 17. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economic development and investments ministry is monitoring developments over Ashtarak Kat dairy company’s blocked bank accounts, Suren Karayan, economic development minister, said Wednesday at a Q&A session in the National Assembly.
Mikael Melkumyan, MP from the Prosperous Armenia party faction in the National Assembly, said that the dairy company, which once occupied 40 to 45 percent of the market, is now plummeting. As many as 600 employees are under the threat of dismissal.
“We have met with representatives of the company and with lenders,” Karayan said. “The ministry is analyzing the situation, but taking into account the fact that this is still operating legal entity, I would like to refrain from making any statement able to harm it.”
The minister expressed willingness to provide the full information later and said that certain steps had already been taken.
Armenian media resources report that Ashtarak Kat dairy company owes millions of drams to suppliers and that it has not been operating over several days.
Many employees have quitted the company for they have earned nothing for they work for the last months.
Rumors are going around that the company will be officially announced bankrupt soon. --0---
