YEREVAN, May 15. / ARKA /. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan traveled today across the central Kotayk region to see how greenhouses there work. The first greenhouse he visited was the greenhouses of Ekotomato company, founded in mid-2011, which grow Dutch roses.

The company has invested about 2 billion drams into the greenhouse located on 2 hectares.  In 2012 Ekotomato invested another 2.8 billion drams to enlarge the greenhouse by 3 more hectares in order to meet the growing demand in flowers.

In 2014 it invested another 2.8 billion drams to have enlarged the greenhouse by another three hectares. Ekotomato has 120 people on its payroll now with an average salary of 140 thousand drams.

The president then visited the greenhouses of Armenian Harvest company, built by use of  the technology of French company Richel Group. The company is now engaged in the cultivation of cucumbers by using hydroponics technology on organic substrate.

Alexander Melnichenko, the chief agronomist of the company, said the output is exported to Russia and also sold at the local market.

Deputy French ambassador to Armenia Nicolas Faye welcomed the cooperation between the Armenian and French companies, as well as the use of French technology by greenhouses in Armenia, which eh said allow to grow high quality products.

The greenhouses of Armenian Harvest located on a total area of nearly 20 hectares have been working since February 2014. Now the company employs 280 people with an average salary of 125,000 drams. -0-
