Armenian Sarkisov brothers are among richest families in Russia

Two ethnic Armenians are in the list of the richest Russian families, according to the Russian edition of Forbes.

YEREVAN, September 7. /ARKA/. Two ethnic Armenians are in the list of the richest Russian families, according to the Russian edition of Forbes. The list includes 10 families of billionaires. Brothers Sergey and Nikolay Sarkisov are in the sixth line of the list with a fortune estimated at $1.5 billion.
One of the brothers, Sergey Sarkisov, was the head of the Ingosstrakh insurance company’s representative office in Cuba back in Soviet times. In 1991 he became the head of the Russian-European Insurance Company (RESO-Garantia) established by Avtobank. The younger brother Nikolai joined the company four years later. Several years later they were already controlling about 60% of the company, another 39.34% belong to the French insurance and investment group AXA.
The brothers own also 50% of the RESO Credit bank, the main bank of the group with a capital of $50 million. The bulk of their wealth are overseas property: 115 hectares of land in Monaco, three houses in Los Angeles, the building of the Chamber of Commerce in Paris, a mansion in London, a castle and other real estate in France, a business center, three penthouses and land in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The list of the richest Russian families is topped by the Gutseriev family with a net wealth of $5.97 billion, the Rotenberg brothers are second with $4.85 billion, the Gapontsev family with a capital of $3.14 billion are third. The tenth is the Zubitsky family with $1.08 billion. The list includes only those families, who earned the bulk of their capital privately, without being civil servants. --0-
