YEREVAN, October 30. / ARKA /. The Armenian government on Thursday has approved several amendments to the law "On foreigners" setting a new procedure for issuing work permits to foreign nationals.

Labor and Social Affairs Minister Artem Asatryan said under the current law foreign citizens can work in the country on the basis of the document certifying their staying status.

"Now, the employer should contact a state agency to get permission for a concrete foreign citizen and state also the reasons. The changes are needed to eliminate ambiguities in the national legislation, as well as to harmonize it with the international law," said the minister.

He said the agency to grant such permissions will be established later. These changes will be submitted for approval to the National Assembly. -0-
