Armenian State Revenue Committee explained some terms of ban on Turkish origin goods
YEREVAN, December 25. /ARKA/. The State Revenue Committee of Armenia recalls that on December 31, 2020, a ban on the import of goods of Turkish origin into the country will come into force for a period of 6 months, according to the list in the annex to the corresponding government decision dated from October 20 of this year.

This prohibition will not apply to goods imported before December 31, only if, all necessary customs procedures are carried out with respect to these goods by December 31, in particular, they are declared under the customs procedure "Pass for Domestic Consumption”, the corresponding customs payments are made and the goods are released before the specified date.

The State Revenues Committee also calls from now to make a note on commercial documents for goods about the country of origin, and (or), if possible, upon the request of the customs authority, present a certificate or declaration of the country of origin.

The department says that the import ban applies to all goods of Turkish origin specified in the list, imported from all countries - Turkey, Georgia and others, including the EAEU member states.

“We warn you that the State Revenue Committee will conduct enhanced customs control over these goods, including physical inspection, which will be carried out in the presence of cameras installed in places of customs control.

The department called on to strictly observe the provisions of the government decision and refrain from possible violations.

About the embargo on Turkish goods

During the period of aggression unleashed on September 27 in Artsakh by Azerbaijan and Turkey with the involvement of foreign terrorist mercenaries, the Armenian government introduced an embargo on the import of Turkish goods into the country on October 21, which will be in effect from December 31, 2020 for a period of 6 months.

The need to take this measure was prompted by the fact that the Turkish authorities, with their provocative appeals, the supply of weapons to Azerbaijan and the transfer of mercenary terrorists to the region, undermined the stability in the region, the process of a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to achieve this.

At the end of November, Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated that in connection with the ban on the import of Turkish goods into Armenia, a niche of $ 200 million a year is opening on the domestic market. He explained that the main large groups of goods imported from Turkey are: clothing - 69.4 million US dollars; citrus fruits - $ 10.3 million; cars, equipment and mechanisms (electric heaters, refrigerators, etc.) - $35.2 million; oil and oil products - $ 24.3 million, chemicals and products of related industries - $ 23.6 million, base metals and products made from them - $ 21.6 million. -0-
