Armenians wineries start grapes procurement

Armenians wineries have started grapes procurements, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture told ARKA. It said minister Sergo Karapetian attended today a special ceremony in the village of Aygavan in Ararat region. He was in the company of regional governor Edik Barseghyan and the executive director of the Yerevan Brandy Company (YBC) Ara Gevorgyan.

YEREVAN, September 10. / ARKA /. Armenians wineries have started grapes procurements, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture told ARKA. It said minister Sergo Karapetian attended today a special ceremony in the village of Aygavan in Ararat region. He was in the company of regional governor Edik Barseghyan and the executive director of the Yerevan Brandy Company (YBC) Ara Gevorgyan.

The YBC has signed contracts to buy 24 thousand tons of grapes, up form 20,344 tons last year.

The report notes that, if necessary the company may increase the purchase. The money will be transferred to farmers cards. 

The process of grapes buying in Armavir region will begin on Tuesday. Processing plants have pledged to buy this year up to 166 thousand tons of grapes, up from 129 thousand tons last year. The purchase price is 140 drams per one kilo, instead of 130 drams last year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the grape output may reach 235-240 thousand tons against 229 thousand tons in 2011. -0-
