Construction of new metro station in Yerevan to be financed by government

Construction of a new station of the Yerevan Metro that will extend to Ajapnyak administrative district will be financed by the government, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

YEREVAN, August 4. /ARKA/. Construction of a new station of the Yerevan Metro that will extend to Ajapnyak administrative district will be financed by the government, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
He said this is the best option that will benefit most the government and the Yerevan Municipality that will also be involved in the process by organizing and conducting a tender and handling also other related issues.
The new station is to be located on a bridge to be built across the Hrazdan River. The cost of the project was not disclosed. The distance between the current terminal Barekamutyun station and the new one is 525 meters. The bulk of it will pass through a tunnel, the construction of which began in Soviet times.
The system launched in 1981 runs on a 13.4 kilometres line and currently serves 10 active stations. -0-
