Prices for electric power and natural gas didn’t allow bread producers in Armenia to lower prices, Artak Shaboyan, the head of Armenia’s antitrust agency, said Thursday at a regular Cabinet meeting.

YEREVAN, February 18. /ARKA/. Prices for electric power and natural gas didn’t allow bread producers in Armenia to lower prices, Artak Shaboyan, the head of Armenia’s antitrust agency, said Thursday at a regular Cabinet meeting.
In his words, the agency has scrutinized price-making process in the bread market.
The monitoring showed that flour price sank 30% in 2015 because of devaluation of the national currency of Russia, which is the key flour importer to Armenia, but bread prices slid just 9 or 10 percent.
Shaboyan said that flour share in the bread price is 54%, but two other factors – the gas price, with its 7.9% share, and electric power price, with 25.4%, deterred bread producers from downing prices significantly. --0----
