Equipment and trucks at border mines will be required to be equipped with GPS systems

YEREVAN, August 14. /ARKA/. During a meeting on August 13, the Armenian government sanctioned the mandatory installation of GPS systems on machinery and trucks involved in the extraction and transportation of minerals at mines situated in border areas and along the banks of border rivers.

As reported by the government press service, this requirement encompasses loading and transport machinery, in addition to trucks that carry minerals. The GPS systems are required to maintain a continuous connection to the server infrastructure.

Moreover, a list of government bodies authorized to access data regarding the movement of equipment and vehicles has been established. Guidelines for processing and sharing information, security standards for the system, and operational rules have also been defined.

The government states that these new regulations aim to enhance the transparency of mineral extraction and transportation activities in border regions.

It is anticipated that government agencies will utilize the data on the movement of equipment and freight vehicles for auditing purposes.

This initiative will establish a framework for tracking the movement of equipment and vehicles operating at border deposits, as well as for storing and relaying pertinent information to authorized government entities.

The government is optimistic that the rollout of this new system will mitigate the risks associated with illegal mining and transportation of minerals, while also improving the efficiency of data sharing among government agencies. -0-
