YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. Economic calculations show that prices for fuel in Armenia should not exceed 300 drams, Aram Sargsyan, the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia said on Friday.
He said that world prices for oil fell by half while at Armenia’s market fuel prices remain unchanged and margin from sales is 170-180 drams per one liter.
Sargsyan said that decrease in fuel prices would reduce cost price for many kinds of products improving things in the country’s economy, particularly in agriculture.
“We will ask the Armenian government to explain the real situation in this segment,” he said. “There is no competition at the market, and this shows that this segment is highly monopolized.”
According to official statistical reports, petrol prices in Armenia slid 2% in July, compared with June, and diesel went 1.8% down. ---0-----
