YEREVAN, November 9. /ARKA/. Gasoline prices in Armenia and Georgia are approximately the same, the head of the Economic Competition Agency of Georgia Nodar Khaduri told journalists on Thursday in Yerevan.

As of November 2017, the average prices for all types of gasoline in Georgia according to Socar data are as follows: Euro Regular (92) - $0.80 per one liter, Premium (95) - $0.88, Super (98) - $0.93. In Armenia the respective prices are $0.81, $0.91 and $0.99.

"After an increase in excise taxes on fuel in January, its cost in Georgia increased and now ranges between 2-2.20 laris ($0.77-0.84) per liter, but this increase was expected, and today the situation is stable and controlled," Khaduri said.

According to him, the main difference between the fuel markets of the two countries is that Georgia imports fuel from a number of countries, while Armenia brings it only from Russia.

"Over the past few years, we have significantly diversified our fuel market, and now we import it from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, which allows us to keep fuel prices under control and not to allow sharp jumps," Khaduri said.

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the price of gasoline in September 2017 grew by 0.8% from the previous month. Compared with December 2016 it was high by 11.1%. -0-
