Minister hopes that Russia will cut price of gas for Armenia
YEREVAN, March 17. /ARKA/. Armenian energy and natural resources minister Levon Yolyan said he hopes that Russia will reduce the price of natural gas shipped to Armenia across Georgia.

Yolyan said the final decision is likely to be announced by Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev during a visit to Armenia scheduled for April 7.  Medvedev will arrive in Armenia to attend a meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The gathering will be attended by prime ministers of the EEU member counties.

On Tuesday Armenian prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan said Armenian and Russian governments will discuss the possibility for Armenia to pay for Russian gas with Russian rubles.

According to Yolyan, the government in Yerevan wants the price to be reduced also for households and enterprises.

Russia lowered the price for gas to Armenia from $189 to $165 per 1,000 cubic meters in 2015 September. However, the gas is sold to households at a price almost double of it. -0-
