Non-food prices drop by 0.7 percent in August

Prices of non-foods in Armenia decreased by 0.7% in 2016 August as opposed to the previous month of July, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).
YEREVAN, September 8. /ARKA/. Prices of non-foods in Armenia decreased by 0.7% in 2016 August as opposed to the previous month of July, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).
The decline is attributed to lower prices of clothing and embroidery - by 3.8%, footwear - by 1.5%, detergents - by 1.4%, fuel - by 1.0% and horticultural products - by 0.7%.
In addition, prices of other non-foods, such as carpet products fell by 0,5%, prices of recreational goods fell by 0.4%, those of household appliances - by 0.3%, construction materials - by 0.3%, kitchen utensils - by 0.2% and textiles - by 0.1%.
However, prices of goods for personal use rose by 0.1%, prices of furniture – by 0.3%, prices of cosmetics and jewelry – by 0.8% and 0.9% respectively and prices of stationery – by 1.1%.
Petrol prices in August 2016 decreased by 11.8% when compared with August 2015. The price of diesel fuel decreased by 19.6%. In August 2016 petrol prices were the same as in the previous month while diesel fuel price grew by 0.2%. -0-
